Gage & Tollner is here to make a comeback. Founded in 1879, it was the “cornerstone of the Brooklyn restaurant world” for 125 years. It closed its doors in 2004, but now, it’s time for it to return. The three renaissance restaurateurs planning to revive it have three successful New York restaurants between them, and they plan to bring back Gage & Tollner to the heart of downtown Brooklyn. After all, Brooklynites love the restaurant and want it to come back, and the dining room is a “unique, Gilded-Age jewel” that is the third interior to be landmarked in NYC. It was once a jewel -- and the hope is that it will again bring its shine to Brooklyn.
