However, have no STEM fear -- Impact Science is here! Impact Science wants to get middle school students hooked on science and engineering -- and they have the lesson plans and curriculum to do it. Their lessons are created for teachers, by teachers, and they replace traditional textbook teaching and new technology learning with a hands-on model based on direct engagement, teamwork, and problem solving. The lessons are easy to use, and they all come in PDF format, which makes them both accessible and affordable for all districts, as PDFs cost significantly less than tech options or textbooks.
Impact Science chose to focus on middle school students because they believe that if middle schoolers can be excited when it comes to science and engineering, they will then feel more confident and willing to explore those options as they enter high school and college. And, so far, Impact Science’s lessons are truly having an impact. From veteran teachers to newbies, educators have found the curriculum to be engaging, exciting, and easy to use.
In fact, Impact Science’s first paying school district loved their curriculum so much they renewed for a two-year contract after only using it for half a year! Impact Science has currently piloted their program in over 60 California school districts, reached 10,000 students, and raised $415,000. They’re also on track to be on the California State Approved curriculum list, and right now, they are the only company out there providing curriculum this comprehensive without requiring an LMS or the Internet. They expect to be profitable in twelve months, and they hope to expand nationally in the upcoming years as well.
The bottom line? Impact Science is re-awakening students’ natural curiosity and empowering them to love science. They’re changing the STEM game...and as more STEM-specific industries emerge, it’s crucial students feel prepared for what the future holds. And now, with Impact Science Education -- they will be.
