Remodeling a room or looking for home improvement solutions can often start to feel like a second job. Between researching contractors, comparing prices, looking up reviews, and explaining your ideas, keeping that guest bathroom just the way it was starts to sound pretty good.

Enter Perserbid. Not quite an Angie’s List, not quite a HomeAdvisor, Perserbid aims to help service providers connect to customers in Northeast Tennessee more efficiently and effectively. They’re a one stop shop throughout the whole process. Here’s how it works: First, you post your desired project. Then, contractors bid on that project, and Perserbid collects the bids for you to review. Once you choose a contractor, you put the funds for the project into an escrow protected by Perserbid. That way, the contractor knows the funds are there, but you know they’re protected until the job is complete. Once the project is finished, the funds are released, and you get to review the contractor. Everything you could ask for in a one place!

Home remodeling is a $300B industry, and conditions have increased steadily at 8.7% in the past year. CEO and founder of Perserbid, Edwin Williams, created the company after his own frustration with remodeling his mother’s house. He’s no newbie to the startup world, as he is also the co-founder of Startup Tri-Cities, another Northeast Tennessee entrepreneurial enterprise. As of mid-October, Perserbid has already raised $5,700 of its minimum $10,000 goal with just four investors. At a $500 investment minimum, that means those investors think this company is worth their money. However, it’s also just four investors so far. Hmmm…
