Between Yelp and TripAdvisor, reviews for restaurants and stores everywhere are available at the click of a button. So, in this day and age, where’s the fan-generated review site for music?
It’s here -- with Subba Media! Subba Media offers people a platform, called Subba-Cultcha.com, where fans can review artists and bands, albums, and festivals. All the reviews are written by fans, as Subba Media’s goal is to put music fans front and center. The average review is 300-400 words in length, and all reviews are vetted before being posted. Subba Media aims to redefine the relationship music fans have with artists and festivals and revolutionize the way people can review their musical experiences.
And so far, Subba Media is striking all the high notes. In the 12 months since the launch of Subba-Cultcha.com’s platform, fans have posted over 6,500 reviews, with no marketing support. Users read more than five reviews per visit, and 90% of fans share their reviews across other social media platforms. Subba Media also works with a large number of record labels, including the majors like Universal, Warner, and Sony. They also work with artist management companies, artists, and more than 60,000 US, UK, European, and Asian festivals.
Subba Media plans to generate revenue from advertising and a proprietary ticketing system, where tickets can be sold directly to Subba’s fans (along with advertising), and Subba Media will take a 10% commission for every ticket sold. They’re advertising revenue model has already proven successful with the $40,000 they generated from Sonos. And now, more than ever, live music attendance is on the rise. In fact, in 2016, almost 200 million people went to live music events in the US and UK alone! Add in that fan generated reviews and global entertainment revenues are also on the rise, and it’s clear that the music eco-system is evolving.
The bottom line here? Whether you’re a music fan or festival fanatic, joining Subba Media means joining the future of musical experiences...one fan-written review at a time.
