Life Recovery Systems has created a device that’s truly living up to their name. Called the ThermoSuit System, it helps save patients from brain damage, or even death, when they are overheating. The device is noninvasive, nurse-deployable, and brings the patient’s body temperature down to healthy levels in 30 minutes or less. About 2,000 patients have been treated with the ThermoSuit system, and studies show that using the device provided a shortened hospital stay and a reduced cost of care for patients. So far, Life Recovery Systems has raised $13 million in angel funding and garnered $1.3 million in National Institute of Health grants. With this campaign, they plan to fund additional clinical studies, develop ThermoSuits for children and very large patients, and expand ThermoSuit’s usage overall.
