SnapDNA, with a valuation of $40 million, is raising funds on Republic. It is a food safety biotech company working on rapid food testing. SnapDNA has the first self-contained, on-site analysis designed to replace all food pathogen lab tests. The time for a food pathogen test has been reduced from 3-7 days to about one hour, and hundreds of samples can be analyzed per day for predictive analytics to help prevent outbreaks. David Medin, Tom Jacobs, and Veronica De Guzman founded SnapDNA in April 2011. The current crowdfunding campaign has a minimum target of $25,000 and a maximum target of $618,000. The campaign proceeds will be used for customer acquisition, product certifications, contractors and staff, and overhead expenses.
